In the Latin American and Caribbean region, the regulation of AI is a nascent issue, which is in transit in most of our countries. Europe, on the other hand, already has some experience, a legal construction and learnings, which are serving as inspiration to develop regulatory frameworks in various nations globally. The Latin American Artificial Intelligence Index identified in September 2024, that there are currently 36 AI Law Projects in the region, of which 30 are inspired by existing European Law.
In this session, Huub Janssen and Rodrigo Duran will analyze the state of the art of this matter in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, emphasizing on the criteria, limits, opportunities, processes and ethical aspects, which should be considered in governments and organizations, when it comes to regulate and supervise AI, to ensure a harmonious course and development for all parties.
