Dr. Paul Dongha is one of the leading authorities in artificial intelligence and ethics within the financial sector, with a key impact on AI strategy and regulation at a global level. As Head of Responsible AI and AI Strategy at NatWest Group, the largest bank in the UK, he leads the development and implementation of ethical AI practices, ensuring that AI technologies comply with the highest regulatory standards while mitigating risks related to bias, transparency, and accountability. Su enfoque estratégicHis strategic approach combines innovation with risk management, integrating AI into the bank’s risk framework to enhance customer experience and improve operational efficiency without compromising trust or corporate integrity. His deep expertise in AI is grounded in a strong academic background, including a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, as well as an MSc and BSc in Computer Science, reinforcing his ability to drive digital transformation with both a technical and strategic perspective.

Before joining NatWest, Paul was Group Head of Data & AI Ethics at Lloyds Banking Group, where he co-chaired the Data & AI Ethics Board and designed governance structures to ensure the responsible use of AI. He led the bank’s generative AI strategy in 2023, establishing the technical architecture and safeguards for its secure implementation. He has played a direct role in shaping UK AI policies, contributing to the UK AI White Paper and advising the British government on responsible AI approaches. Paul is also a distinguished academic and international speaker, having delivered keynote speeches at events such as FIMA 2023 and the New York AI Summit, in addition to teaching Generative AI at Harvard Business School.
